One of Australia’s premiere lighting and festival events, Vivid Sydney, is set to begin on May 27th till June 18th.
Vivid Sydney will transform the city into an outdoor art and light installation, featuring large-scale illuminations, laser lightshows and 3D-mapped projections.
The 23 day event is in its eighth year running, voted Australia’s Best Event in 2013 and Best Tourism Event in 2013, 2014 and 2015.
The 2016 edition of the event will contain an extra five days’ worth of activities to keep up with demand.
Since the first event was held in 2009, overnight visitation to Sydney during the festival period has increased by 640 per cent.
Vivid Sydney is owned, managed and produced by Destination NSW, the NSW government’s tourism and major events agency.
The event is one of many reoccurring lighting events to take place within the nation, including White Night Melbourne.
