The 6th Australian Smart Lighting Summit to Explore Smart Urban, Outdoor, Street and Public Lighting

Expotrade Australia is pleased to announce the return of the Australian Smart Lighting Summit for its sixth consecutive year. Taking place on the 11th and 12 September 2018 at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre, the event will bring together a wide range of knowledgeable senior-level professionals to present on developments faced by both councils and lighting professionals.

Playing host to over 150 delegates, the summit will once again bring together speakers from across the globe to discuss and examine the latest industry advancements. Intelligent lighting poles and its impact in society, the role of smart lighting in a smart city and the future of smart lighting are just a few topics the summit will touch on.

Denmark’s DOLL Living Lab provides a live testing ground for the future of intelligent lighting by addressing the needs of established and developing smart cities.

International keynote speaker Kim Brostrøm, Chief Technology Officer of DOLL Living Lab, will examine the quality and aesthetics of smart lighting and the innovation behind connected lighting systems and connected cities.

This year’s Australian Smart Lighting Summit will examine the technology contributing to the concept of smart lighting, how to strike a balance between natural and artificial lighting and how councils can utilise it.

Representatives from local councils, including Wyndham City Council, Glen Eira City Council and the City of Gold Coast, will provide a local point of view for attending delegates.

One of Australia’s largest LED retrofitting project’s is currently being undertaken in the City of Gold Coast. In addition to monitoring the energy consumption of metered and unmetered lighting, the project has also tested the ability to dim and alter the temperature and colour of street lighting during the 2018 Commonwealth Games. City of Gold Coast’s Energy Management Program Executive Coordinator Pamela Bessette will delve into the findings at this year’s event.

Marc Cassanet, Senior Sustainability Officer of Wyndham City Council, will offer some insight on the urban heat island effect; providing an understanding of the challenges councils face in planning for sustainable lighting.

Investigating the controversy surrounding street lighting and healthy blue light, Business Manager at Ironbark Sustainability Alexi Lynch will moderate a panel which will explore what is a realistic goal in terms of lighting temperature in a public domain.

The 6th Australian Smart Lighting Summit will shine a light on the challenges faced when developing and executing smart urban, outdoor, street and public lighting.
